A particular
strength of the IQ team is our ability to respond quickly
to the requirements of the market for new products. The members
of our "Special Projects" team bring a high degree of multi-disciplinary
focus towards finding a solution to any product development
challenge. Customers, business partners, and competitors
alike have frequently expressed their surprise at the very
quick speed-to-market with new products and technologies,
which IQ has almost routinely demonstrated.
When General Motors Corporation contacted and challenged us to develop a Tire
Inflator product, with performance attributes which far exceeded all other
known products and technologies in the market at the time, we confidently accepted
the challenge. We already had a very effective water-based technology for tire
inflator and sealer products at that time but, like other leading brand competing
products, it had weaknesses in that it was prone to freezing in the winter
and provided only a temporary tire repair. In a matter of weeks, our Special
Projects Team had developed and tested a new-technology tire inflator and sealer
that completely met the GM parameters. Soon after successfully testing this
product at the GM Proving Grounds in Milford, Michigan, we introduced our new
Permanent Seal "Best-of-Category" Tire Inflator and Sealer to the market. To
date, no other competing product offers the combination of performance, value,
and ease of use, as that offered by our AirUp, Primis, and RepairSafe brands
of Permanent Seal Tire Inflator and Sealer products.
In another example, we were challenged by the management of a major retail
mass-merchant chain to develop a high quality Shaving Gel, which would offer
good profit margins yet be competitively priced at retail. Within weeks, our
Special Projects Team responded by developing and testing a new technology
for making Shaving Gels. Within a few months following the original discussion,
IQ was shipping large commercial quantities of Shaving Gels to the market.
Many other similar examples could be cited. We are proud of the fact that,
when our customers see a marketing opportunity and need to realize it quickly,
IQ is the first company they contact. We look forward to dealing with continuing
challenges as we move ahead on our Journey.
Being aware of the importance of package design to attract consumers' interest
in, and purchase of products, we have totally integrated our award-winning
in-house graphics team into IQ's product development operations, along with
our technology and engineering teams. We have methodically strengthened the
graphics team with talented professionals encompassing years of experience
in complex graphic design for the most attractive product packages, and we
have invested in high-end graphic workstations and printers to allow our master-artists
to practice their art. Our team is able to create magazine advertisements,
point of purchase displays, trade show exhibits, catalog sheets, brochures,
and packaging materials that outshine other products in the consumer marketplace.
We resolved early in our Journey that our "Best-of-Category" products must
also be the most attractive. The graphics team helps us to realize the commercial
and market potential of our innovative product ideas and our technological
and production expertise.
